Reflecting on DevOpsDays Berlin 2024
A week ago, we kicked off this year’s DevOpsDays Berlin. Today we want to reflect on the event, which was a great success.
An Insightful Agenda
The conference began with insightful keynote sessions, followed by our Open Spaces in the afternoon. The speakers at DevOpsDays Berlin 2024 covered a wide range of topics that were interesting and important for the DevOps community. They talked about things like how power structures affect teams, the problems with using static credentials, and what we can learn from failed attempts at GitOps. They also discussed product management in DevOps and how to mentor junior engineers. Some speakers even gave quick talks about different subjects, like cyber laws and how to monitor your well-being using technology. The Open Space sessions let everyone discuss these topics more deeply and share their own ideas and experiences. From transitioning to microservices to building new platforms, the speakers gave valuable insights into the world of DevOps.
Networking & Socializing
The networking at DevOpsDays Berlin 2024 was lively and helpful. DevOps enthusiasts were talking and sharing, making connections and exchanging ideas during breaks, lunches, and the evening event. Katja ist seit Oktober 2020 Teil des Marketing Teams. Als Manager Marketing kümmert sie sich hauptsächlich um das Marketing für die Konferenzen stackconf und OSMC sowie unsere Trainings. Zudem unterstützt sie das Icinga Team mit verschiedenen Social Media Kampagnen und der Bewerbung der Icinga Camps. Sie ist SEO-Verantwortliche für all unsere Websites und sehr viel in unserem Blog unterwegs. In ihrer Freizeit reist sie gerne, bastelt, backt und engagiert sich bei Foodsharing. Im Sommer kümmert sie sich außerdem um ihren viel zu großen Gemüseanbau.
NETWAYS Chefs – F&A backt Waffeln
Wir bei Finance & Administration haben plötzlich richtig Lust auf Waffeln bekommen und haben natürlich bei unseren Kollegen nachgefragt, wer denn auch gerne mitessen würde. Dass sich fast alle, die an dem Tag da sein würden, gemeldet haben, war dabei keine allzu große Überraschung 😉
Wie gingen wir vor?
Wir haben uns schnell entschieden Vanessas Waffelrezept mit Quark zu nehmen und haben eine Einkaufsliste erstellt für die Drei- bis Vierfache Menge sowie für frisches Obst und andere Toppings.
Hier das Grundrezept für ca. 15 Waffeln:
- 5 Eier
- 180g Butter
- 375g Quark 40% Fett
- 300g Milch
- 390g Mehl
- 1 1/2 TL Backpulver
Und so geht es:
Für extra fluffige Waffeln als erstes die Eier trennen und das Eiweiß zu Eischnee schlagen.
Dann weiche (oder leicht geschmolzene) Butter mit Quark und Eigelb vermischen.
Milch, Mehl und Backpulver zur Quarkmischung dazugeben, und zum Schluss den Eischnee vorsichtig unterheben.
Fertig ist der Teig, und er kann in leicht gefetteten Waffeleisen gebacken werden.
Bei uns waren es gleich vier Waffeleisen, denn bei der hungrigen Meute würde es sonst zu lange dauern.
Während einige am Teig arbeiteten, haben andere frisches Obst geschnitten sowie Teller und Servietten bereitgestellt. Ein Schokoaufstrich, sowie Apfelmus und Puderzucker durften auch nicht fehlen.
Wir haben etwas zu viele Waffeln gemacht, aber komischerweise hat sich darüber keiner beschwert, und die leckeren Waffeln waren nach kurzer Zeit restlos verschwunden!
Vielleicht müssen wir diese Aktion demnächst wiederholen 😊

Als Office Manager kümmert sie sich deshalb nicht nur um das Tagesgeschäft sondern übernimmt nebenbei zusätzlich einen Großteil der Übersetzungen. Privat ist der bekennende Bücherwurm am liebsten mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs.

What is the Foreman Birthday Event?
So if you missed our last events, the Foreman Birthday Event is a small conference with a mix of talks and networking. The event was born out of the idea to celebrate the birthday of the Foreman Project by Greg Sutcliffe when he was the project’s Community manager. In the first years we had multiple events, but the only one still taking place is the one organized by ATIX and NETWAYS.
How to Participate?
Talks are not announced yet as the Call for Papers is still open. So everyone can still propose an interesting talk focusing on the use and development of Foreman, Katello, or Pulp. As I am not hosting this year, I already did send one in, and so you can also suggest your own at cfp@atix.de. As a speaker you will be invited by ATIX to dinner the evening before the main event. So plan your trip to perhaps combine some sightseeing in Munich with the event!
If you want to visit the event just for the talks and networking, please register in the meetup group, as space and cake are limited.
Still undecided? Then take a look at the recap of the last events in 2023 and 2021, and you will find some great talks which will hopefully convince you.
