Wie Du Apps über Rocket.Chat Marketplace installierst

Nachdem Rocket.Chat von immer mehr Kunden möchte, ihren Cloud Service zu nutzen, ist es uns leider nicht mehr möglich, einige Features direkt beim Start Deiner App bereitzustellen. Nehmen wir als Beispiel mal die Jitsi App: um Jitsi nun nutzen zu können, musst Du die App über den Rocket.Chat Marketplace installieren. Da eventuell nicht alle darüber Bescheid wissen, habe ich nun eine kleine Anleitung für Dich vorbereitet, die Dir Schritt für Schritt zeigt, wie Du bei Deinem Rocket.Chat die Jitsi App installieren und aktivieren kannst! Los geht’s!

 

So gehst Du vor

Dann fangen wir doch mal direkt an: zuerst navigierst Du zu Administration → Connectivity Services und klickst auf „Cloud Console“. Das sollte dann so aussehen, wie auf dem Screenshot nebendran. Anschließend wirst Du zu cloud.rocketchat.chat weitergeleitet.

 

 

 

1. Erstelle ein Rocket.Chat Konto

Nun registrierst Du Dich bei Rocket.Chat.
Hierzu drückst Du einmal auf „Create account„: dann kannst Du Deinen Namen und Deine Email Adresse hinterlegen bzw. ein Passwort erstellen. Dann erhältst Du eine Bestätigungsmail – solltest Du keine in Deinem Postfach finden, prüfe bitte, ob diese eventuell im Spam-Ordner gelandet ist. Falls auch da nichts zu finden ist, probiere es bitte erneut oder kontaktiere ggf. unseren Support unter nws@netways.de – wir helfen gerne!

Nach Abschluss der Registrierung klickst Du unter Connectivity Services erneut auf „Cloud Console“. Nun kannst Du Dich mit dem gerade erstellten Konto bei Rocket.Chat anmelden!

 

2. Jetzt bist Du in der Rocket.Chat Cloud

Nach der Anmeldung gelangst Du zur Rocket.Chat Cloud – navigiere dann zu Workspaces und drücke auf „Register self-managed“, so wie im Screenshot zu sehen. Danach wirst Du gefragt, wie Du Dein Rocket.Chat verbinden möchtest – hier wählst Du dann „Register Offline Workspace“.

 

 

3. Kopieren und einfügen

Es erscheint ein kleines Eingabefenster, welches wie hier nebendran aussieht. Hier kannst Du nun – unter Administration → Connectivity Services → manual registration – den Token holen bzw. kopieren. Diesen fügst Du nun in das kleine Eingabefenster in der Rocket.Chat Cloud ein.

 

 

 

 

 

Anschließend drückst Du im Rocket.Chat auf „Next“ und in der Rocket.Chat Cloud auf „Continue„. Nun kopierst Du den in der Rocket.Chat Cloud angezeigten Token in das Eingabefenster im Rocket.Chat.

 

 

4. Fast fertig!

Nach dem Einfügen klickst Du auf „Finish Registration“ und anschließend auf „Login to Rocket.Chat Cloud„.

 

Du hast es geschafft!

Wenn Du nun erfolgreich Dein Rocket.Chat mit der Cloud verbunden hast, kannst Du, wie gewohnt, die Jitsi App oder eine beliebig andere App aus dem Marketplace installieren! Ich hoffe, die Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitung hat Dir geholfen.

5 Years of NETWAYS Web Services

Time flies and a company is always moving forward, but today we stop for a moment to look back on the last 5 years and take a walk down memory lane. Today is our 5th anniversary and we are super thrilled to celebrate our birthday! Happy Birthday NWS!

On this day five years ago we officially launched our SaaS platform. Of course, the idea of offering effortless, transparent, fair and GDPR compliant Open Source Applications was born already months before. Back then, we were only offering Icinga, Rocket.Chat and Nextcloud. And now look what we have reached! Managed Kubernetes, Infrastructure as a Service on top of OpenStack and many more valuable apps.

Because it’s our 5th birthday I want to share 5 milestones from the last 5 years:

 

1. Cloud based on OpenStack

Our working horse is definitely our Cloud Services based on OpenStack! It came to the party one and half years after the initial launch of NWS. The transition from a traditional Managed Service Provider to a Cloud Provider with self-service capabilities was a huge step for us! And today you can run your own VPC, spin up VMs, create individual networks and connect them with routers, consume S3 based and block-storage and even leverage VPN and load balancer as a service!

 

2. Managed Kubernetes

Choo Choo – here comes the hypetrain! Kubernetes is not hyped for nothing: it’s a masterpiece of modern deployment of applications and managing and configuring infrastructure. Our Managed Kubernetes started in early 2020. Nowadays, we run the latest versions of K8s and support major features such as the creation of nodegroups and autoscaling of those, dynamic Persistent Volumes and Load Balancers backed by our Cloud and many more! Also we are happy to help our customers to kickstart their projects into an Kubernetes environment and guide them on their way of operating it.

 

3. Jitsi

2 years ago – when the pandemic hit Europe and almost everybody who was able to work from home worked from home – we decided to extend our SaaS-Apps by another great Open Source project perfect for remote work: Jitsi. To make the start into this whole new home office situation a little smoother and easier, we offered a 3 month trial in our #stayathome campaign, to support others working from home and to battle the situation. The demand was intense and up to today a lot of teams and companies are using NWS Jitsi for their daily meetings and One-on-Ones!

 

4. GPU

Special workloads need special hardware, right? So, to meet our customers‘ demands we are proud to offer accelerated GPUs for VMs within our Cloud and Nodes within Managed Kubernetes Clusters. We just released this new hardware a month ago!

 

5. MyEngineer

Technology and a great platform is nothing without the people! They are our greatest asset!
As an NWS customer, you not only have access to our know-how and experience – you’re also in direct contact with our team of engineers. They take the customers by the hand, give professional advise on architectural decisions, troubleshoot technical problems that occured and operate complete setups. The MyEngineer integration into the NWS platform was done late 2020 and have been greatly appreciated by our customers eversince.

Personally, those last 5 years just flew by! I am stunned and – most of all – proud of what the team has achieved in only 5 years! Thanks to everybody who was engaged in helping and building this platform and of course to our loyal customers! Now, we’ll be celebrating a bit:

stackconf online 2021 | Reference Architecture for a Cloud Native Digital Enterprise

This year’s stackconf is over and was a big success. The three-day conference last summer was all about open source infrastructures where trendsetting concepts, state-of-the-art technical expertise, top-level discussions and new perspectives have shaped the event.

Besides our 30 amazing experts sessions we were also excited about the large amount of participants from all over the world. Our audience included renowned infrastructure spezialists, industry leaders, experienced administrators and IT architects as well as a wild bunch of open source community enthusiasts.

For all of you who couldn’t join the Open Source Infrastructure Conference I’ve something awesome today.

Lakmal Warusawihana’s session discusses a vendor/technology-neutral reference architecture for a cloud native digital enterprise to increase productivity by having agility, flexibility, and scalability through automation and services. Be curious and enjoy his lecture!

stackconf 2022 will take place from July 19 – 20 in Berlin.

Our Call for Papers is still open and runs until March 31, 2022. You’re invited to submit your proposal and become a hero speaker at this year’s conference.

stackconf 2022 will take place from May 16-17 in Berlin. We’re already looking for speakers sharing their expertise on open source infrastructure solutions. Lectures focussing on topics around the whole lifecycle like building, CI/CD, running and monitoring are very appreciated. HW group: Neuerungen beim SensDesk Portal

SensDesk.com ist ein Online-Dienst unseres Herstellers HW group zur Überwachung und Verwaltung von Remote Sensoren und Geräten. Das SensDesk.com-Portal bietet Euch einen zentralen Überblick über alle Werte, ermöglicht das Senden von Alarmen, das Erstellen von Berichten, die Ausgabe in die Open API und vieles mehr. Jetzt hat HW group hier aber einige Änderungen vorgenommen:

SensDesk.com war in der Vergangenheit ein kostenloser Dienst. Jetzt wurde die neue Seite www.HWg-cloud.com als kostenloser Service für HW Group Kunden veröffentlicht (Details hier). Im Folgenden die wichtigsten Infos:

  • Ab dem 30. November 2021 wird SensDesk.com zu einem kostenpflichtigen Dienst.
  • HW group möchte alle (nicht zahlenden) Kunden bitten, ihre Geräte auf das neue Portal www.HWg-cloud.com zu migrieren, wenn sie nicht bereit sind, für Überwachungsdienste zu bezahlen. Der Hersteller  entschuldigt sich für die Unannehmlichkeiten und glaubt, dass Ihr auch mit dem HWg-cloud-Service zufrieden sein werdet.
  • Ihr habt für die Migration Zeit bis zum 30.11.2021.
  • Wie die Migration funktioniert, könnt Ihr im Webinar How to migrate my devices from SensDesk.com am 18. Oktober um 14:00 Uhr (Prager Zeit – MEZ) erfahren. Dieses Webinar ist öffentlich, wenn Ihr an einer Teilnahme interessiert seid, klickt einfach auf diesen Registrierungslink.
