Weekly Snap: Git & Apache, OSMC & PuppetConf 2013

weekly snap12 – 16 August shared tips for Git, Apache and performance graphing as well as a special on PuppetConf 2013 in San Francisco.
Eva started the week by counting 71 days to the OSMC with Eric Lippmann’s presentation on ‘Performance Graphing with inGraph’.
Meanwhile, Bernd got ready for PuppetConf 2013 and shared a code for 20% discount on tickets as Dirk showed how to bypass Apache authentication requirements.
Finally, Marius played with the Git filter-branch and Achim answered the question: “How do I delete old Git branches?

Weekly Snap: inGraph 1.0.2, hostapd, Komodo Edit & OpenNebula

weekly snap20 – 24 May announced a new inGraph release, shared a presentation on OpenNebula alongside tips on internet connections and text editors for developers.
Eric kicked off the week with the inGraph 1.0.2 release– a stable version of the performance graphing addon for Icinga and Nagios.
Ronny researched tools to shape internet traffic on a Windows machine, as Dirk showed how to quickly set up WLAN with hostapd.
Meanwhile Marius recommended Komodo Edit for a small but good text editor, and Bernd shared his presentation slides on OpenNebula from the LinuxTag 2013.

inGraph 1.0.2 released

inGraph - LogoDie neue stabile Version 1.0.2 unseres Graphing-Tools kann ab sofort unter www.netways.org heruntergeladen werden.
Folgende wichtige Fehlerbehungen sind im Release enthalten:

  • Stark verbesserte Performance mit PostgreSQL.
  • Behebt Kompatibilitätsprobleme mit SQLAlchemy Versionen größer 0.8.
  • Behebt Probleme mit fehlerhaften Performancedaten.
  • Aktiviert logging nach /var/log/ingraph, konfigurierbar mit –with-log-dir-Switch.

Weekly Snap: InGraph, Google Analytics for Prestashop, LDAP & Distributed Shell

weekly snap26 – 30 November ended the month with mini guides on Distributed Shell and LDAP, Google Analytics and Prestashop, alongside some familiar hardware, InGraph and news from Down Under.
Eric gave a sneak preview to features planned for coming releases of InGraph, concluding The Ultimate Guide to InGraph.
Stefan fiddled with batch mode clusters via ssh using Distributed Shell dsh, while Lennart showed how to use LDAP filters for authorisation settings in recursive groups.
Georg then showed how to make the most of Google Analytics in Prestashop and introduced one of his best sellers, the HWg-STE network thermometer.
On sabbatical, Birger got settled into Sydney and reflected on a successful Movember 2012 as Bernd shared his thoughts on Africa’s internet landscape.

Weekly Snap: InGraph, Bonding on Ubuntu, FreeNAS 8 & OSDC 2013 CfP

weekly snap19 – 23 November presented our new look blog with tips on InGraph, bonding under Ubuntu and running Microsoft Cluster 2008 virtually, as well as calling out to interested speakers for our OSDC 2013.
Jannis contributed part 4 of the ultimate guide to InGraph by introducing the check_ingraph plugin that enables recent performance to be compared with past.
Meanwhile, Martin showed how to implement NIC bonding on Ubuntu 12.04.1 and Christoph gave us an illustrated guide to setting up Microsoft 2008 Cluster in Virtual Box with FreeNAS 8.
Lastly, Eva explained why James Bond is a good reason to submit a presentation idea to our OSDC 2013 Call for Papers before year’s end.
