OSMC Countdown – 7 days to go

The OSMC countdown is running. Seven days to go until OSMC 2021 is finally back in real life, here in Nuremberg. Get ready for the first NETWAYS onsite conference for a long time. Therefore we’ve created a guide consisting of 7 steps, which will help you with your preparations for our presence event:

07 – Grab your Ticket

It’s 7 days till OSMC. Welcome to day one of our preparation challenge! The first thing you have to do, is  to register yourself for the event! After your registration you will receive your conference pass and all important information about how the event works from our Events Team.

06 – Save your seat at Hackathon & Workshop

The famous OSMC Hackathon will take place on the last conference day (Nov. 11). Based on the great success of the previous editions, we are looking forward to many inspiring, powerful, sensational ideas and projects that participants develop together in small groups! Sounds great, right? Good for you that it’s still possible to register! So, make sure to get a hold of your add-on ticket! Find further information on our website.

Also taking place on the same day is the hands-on Icinga Workshop, which will be held in German. Complete your OSMC experience by attending the Workshop and find more details and your add-on ticket here.

05 – Create your program

Now check out our lecture program and see what’s in for you. Choose speakers and talks that interest you most, add them to your personal calendar and you won’t miss any of your favourite lectures. Just click on the talk you are interested in and you can add the talk to your calendar.

04 – Prepare questions

Let your hardest questions be answered by renowned international open source experts. Think about some questions in advance and you will find out what you always wanted to know.

03 – Download the App

Did you know that there’s an OSMC app, where you can find all information such as the latest news, room planning and speakers – compact and easy in one place? Yes, be updated at all times! One of the benefits is that you can choose your favorite talks and create your own, individual OSMC program! All you need to do is scan the QR Code or click on the links – both can be found on page two.

02 – Arrange your documents

For a smooth check-in to the conference and evening event, please have the following documents at hand:

  • download or print both tickets (conference and evening event)
  • based on the 3G-Plus regulation: either proof of vaccination, recovery, or PCR-Test
  • your ID

01 – Travel, be curious & enjoy

How do you get to the OSMC? By plane, train, car or maybe even by bike? No matter how you get to the conference, we look forward to seeing you!

Well done, you’re perfectly prepared for OSMC! Now make yourself comfortable, lean back, enjoy your chosen lectures and most importantly: be curious.

Now you can look forward to new contacts and lots of expert know-how in the area of open source monitoring. Have a great time in Nuremberg!

Foreman’s 12 birthday – we will have a virtual party

Beginning with Foreman’s 7th birthday in the year 2016 we are organizing an annual party to celebrate with the awesome community. As we partnered up with ATIX for organizing this event, it was their turn last year and with Covid19 they had the additional challenge to move a social event from meeting in person to online. While they did great, I had high hopes I could return back to normal in this year, but unfortunately also this year we have to stay virtual.

Nevertheless I can announce we will have another Foreman Birthday event on July 1st, 15:00 (CEST). We plan to have 5 to 6 30 minute talks with moderation by me accompanied and some kind of chat for live discussion and Q&A followed by a social event.

As we are still in the planing phase I can not go into detail about the social event or the chat solution but I can already confirm the first two talks.

  • Lukáš Zapletal will tell us “The story of webhooks plugin” as a mixture of technical talk and community success story.
  • Dana Singleterry will give as a “Red Hat Product manager update” so we will hear what Red Hat is planing for the next releases.

If you like to give a talk please get in touch with via email. We aim for a wide variety of talks, be it a new plugin or some new tricks for an old one, a case study showing your environment, about Foreman itself, Katello/Satellite/Orcharhino, Pulp, Candlepin or even Puppet and Ansible or the Community. Everything related to Foreman will be considered. We plan to have all talks pre-recorded and will provide guidance for doing so. After the talk we want to give everyone the chance to ask questions, so the speaker can answer them live.

So save the date and watch this thread in the Foreman Community for always up-to-date information. I hope to meet you all at the event! My plan is you will miss nothing of our normal program except the cake from this virtual event! 😉

Stackconf program: See what’s in for you

The stackconf program

Since the open source infrastructure conference approaches with big steps, we proudly announce the completion of our three-day lecture program. We finally created our program awaiting you at stackconf online from June 15 – 17, 2021.

Our international speakers

The schedule consists of 34 open source related lectures of speakers from all over the world like USA, Nigeria, Portugal, Spain, France, Israel, Brazil, Turkey, England, Holland and Germany. It includes talks by well-known open source experts such as the following:

Arushi Jain PortraitArushi Jain (Reddit):

„Spot the Antipattern“

Spotting anti-patterns in any large scale production system is an art form, but it doesn’t need to be complicated. In this talk I will describe a ruleset to guide you in identifying anti patterns in your systems. While spotting deeply ingrained anti-patterns can require deep knowledge and expertise in the specific system, I believe that there is a certain amount of generalization in approach that can take you far and is good enough to get started.

Frank Karlitschek (Nextcloud GmbH):

„First hand experience: How Nextcloud stayed productive during COVID-19“

We are all now experiencing that remote working and virtual conferencing are important tools to stay connected. This talk gives an inside look at how Nextcloud GmbH works together with the Nextcloud community-building Nextcloud. It covers different communication channels, how coordination in distributed teams works, and how good and efficient collaboration around documents is possible.

Kat Liu (Klar Technologies)

„You might be Streaming Events Wrong“

Asynchronous message processing has taken the world by storm recently, but not without difficulty. Configuring these queues and streams is far from trivial. Who has time to worry about consumer groups and partitions, when you need to worry about customer growth and features? Does it even matter what streaming technology you use at the onset? The answer is a resounding yes.

Matt Jarvis (Snyk):

„Continuous Security – integrating security into your pipelines“

In the world of continuous delivery and cloud native, the boundaries between what is our application and what constitutes infrastructure is becoming increasing blurred. Our workloads, the containers they ship in, and our platform configuration is now often developed and deployed by the same teams, and development velocity is the key metric to success.

Enjoy your benefits

Apart from free participation stackconf allows you to get in contact with more than 150 like-minded people worldwide. Expand your professional contacts or maintain existing ones. Interact with well-known experts in the area of open source infrastructure, acquire new skills and enjoy three days full of inspirations and extensive knowledge. Put together your individual programm and bring a little variety to your homeoffice.

Sounds good? Don’t wait any longer and safe your free seat! Registration is already possible.

We look forward to seeing you!
