27 June – 1 July turned over the month with a Puppet tip and project at Wirecard in Munich.
Sebastian showed us how to use Puppet External Node Classifier to query hosts from an external source such as LDAP and MySQL for node definitions. With a simple modification of two lines in Puppet’s configuration, hosts are no longer sought for in the static site.pp as usual. It also have “0” as the return status, so that Puppet can run the catalogue and the host can be configured accordingly. See his examples in the blog post.
