Weekly Snap: Jobs, OSMC Program and Debian’s B’day

von | Aug 23, 2010 | WeeklySnap

16-20 August rolled out 2 more jobs, OSMC program preview, a colleague introduction and Debian’s birthday.
Manuela gave us a peek into the program of  the 5th Open Source Monitoring Conference (OSMC), introducing Dr. Johannes Mainusch (The social seismograph – I just love monitoring at XING), Rainer Jung (Java Monitoring & Troubleshooting), Wolfgang Barth (Network Monitoring with Argus) and Michael Medin (NSClient++: What’s new and what’s coming?). Once again, Linux Magazine will support with Live Streaming so attendees won’t miss a speech, while Thomas Krenn AG will share the latest on server technologies.
To follow, Manuela shared a little about herself as Event Manager behind the OSDC, OSMC, training courses, trade fairs and marketing communications.
We paid our respects to Debian on its 17th birthday, as did many on their Debian Appreciation Day website: . Since Ian Murdock brought the project into life, through the “comp.os.linux.development” mailing list, more than 1000 developers and maintainers have spent their free time looking after the 25,000+ packages.
On a job posting roll, Julian thought it only fair to help a fellow friend out in their search for a Web Designer. DD Marketing is looking for someone with strong HTML, CSS, Photoshop and Dreamweaver skills, knowledge of web application languages (PHP, JavaScript, ASP etc.) and Flash. As a colleague or freelancer, even for those looking for a career change – all are welcome to apply at http://www.d-d-marketing.de/index.php?id=jobs.
In suit, Peter was on the lookout for a Junior Account Manager with an interest in open source and data centre technologies. The new colleague will liaise independently with clients, support consultants in creating customised solutions, and maintain good customer relations. If you enjoy learning on the job, working in a dynamic team without the hierarchy, and are ready to travel – we look forward to hearing from you.
