Foreman is a lifecycle management-system for servers. It supports the administrator with the provisioning of virtual and physical systems and the afterwards following configuration management. Besides the graphical surface, Foreman offers a command line as well as an API for the integration in other applications. Everything is well secured with a fine-granulated rights system and auditing functions.
Furthermore, Foreman can be extended in its functionalities through plugins and forms therefore among others the base of the red hat network satellite.

In this training you will get to know the main architecture behind Foreman. Installing and configurating Foreman to test afterwards the different possibilies of the provisioning. As configuration management you integrate Puppet to further maintain the systems.
Furthermore, you will learn to administer the users and authorizations in Foreman and gain an overview which further options Foreman has to offer.

The named topics will be teached detailed in theory and hands on. Attendees will learn about the basic mode of operation of Foreman. Target audience are administrators with solid knowledge of Linux, who need a solution for provisioning and maintenance of their servers. Basic knowledge in Puppet is a plus but not a requirement.
To ensure an aim-oriented and efficient realization of this training the number of participants is limited. This enables an intense examination of the course content and the opportunity to settle individual questions and problems.
The exchange between the participants is of particular importance for us. This is also the reason why all participants are invited to dinner so that a lot of scope for discussions and exchange of experience is allowed between the participants outside the workshop hours.
