Our Highlight Speakers

You are curious already? Here are three out of our magnificent speakers line-up presenting their talks to you:

Kat Liu | Spotify’s outage of 8.3.2022, explained

Spotify had one of its most disruptive outages in recent history on 8.3.2022 CET, which resulted in over an hour of downtime and users getting logged out. As luck would have it, I was on-call for the very first time for the User platform tribe. I helped where I could, but mostly watched in awe as a flurry of teams came online after-hours to work together to debug and mitigate the issue. Here, I’ll talk about the this incident, including symptoms, root causes, aftereffects, and takeaways.

Matt Jarvis | Choose your open source package like you choose a hotel

Securing our software supply chains has become one of the biggest stories of recent years. From code injection to typo squatting, bad actors are realising that getting code into the upstream supply chain may be an easier route than targeting vulnerabilities in downstream applications. So how do we manage this in open source communities? Here, I will introduce the problem space of software supply chain issues in open source package libraries and how tools like Advisor can help you make informed choices.

Hannah Foxwell | DevOps or DevX – Lessons We Learned Shifting Left the Wrong Way

In 2010 the DevOps movement set about solving the blockage on the path to production. The Wall of Confusion! Developers would throw new software releases, features, and products over the wall to operations who were tasked with supporting these apps in production. We have been tearing down the wall of confusion for a decade and we have learnt a thing or two along the way. In this talk I will reflect on how we often “shift left” the wrong way, and how we might approach this familiar problem in new ways that set our teams up for success.

Save your seat!

Have we convinced you with this year’s stackconf program and our highlight speakers? Then save your ticket for July 19 – 20, 2022 in Berlin to be on bord of an extraordinary and absolutely exciting open source event this summer!

Stay tuned!
