Weekly Snap: CeBIT Stand & PuppetCamp, Icinga / Nagios & Puppet Courses

weekly snap18 – 22 February was all about events, workshops and training courses in Puppet, Icinga / Nagios and development.
Eva began by counting 58 days down to the OSDC with Christian Winkler’s presentation on “Ultra performant websites with varnish MP4”.
She also announced NETWAYS’ CeBIT stand whereabouts this year and reminded interested speakers to submit their talks to the Puppet Camp 2013 Call for Papers before 15 March.
Puppet Labs then trained our Puppet trainers Sebastian and Thomas in preparation for the upcoming Puppet courses they’ll be running.
Continuing with courses, Eva dished the details on Dirk and Christian’s three Nagios / Icinga workshops with iX.
Lastly, Markus shared his .vimrc and favourite VIM addons as our dev team re-emerged from their two-day blue-sky think camp with new processes and photos to show.

Weekly Snap: Source Code Pro, Apace & Active Directory, JMX

weekly snap 11 – 15 February introduced new products at our shop and shared tips for programmers and sys admins alike.
Eva began by counting 65 days down to the OSDC with Jochen Lillich’s presentation on Kanban.
Lennart then solved an Apache and Active Directory configuration problem as Johannes trialled Adobe’s coding font, Source Code Pro.
Ronny followed with his quick guide to activating JMX and Christian announced the arrival of new power distribution units by Gude to our online hardware store.
Finally, Georg gave the adjudication reins over to our readers to decide which poet should win our competition for two TKS Supermicro 2HE servers.

Weekly Snap: Responsive Web, BTRFS Plugin & Cloud Expo Europe

weekly snap28 January – 1 February turned over a new month with new buzzwords in web development, a new monitoring plugin and a trip to Cloud Expo Europe.
Sebastian reported back from the Cloud Expo Europe 2013 in London, as Bernd started his presentation on OpenNebula.
Jannis then explained the latest buzz-term ‘Responsive Web”, while Michael F shared his Icinga/Nagios plugin to monitor BTRFS file systems.
Finally, Eva counted 79 days till the OSDC with Kris Buytaert’s presentation on “Devops and Open Source”.

Weekly Snap: OwnCloud, Puppet Webinar in German & Joining the OSDC

weekly snap21 – 25 January introduced more of our team, cloud storage for the home, the first online Puppet class in German, and 5 ways join the OSDC and OSMC fee-free.
Matthias recommended OwnCloud for all the benefits of cloud storage on your home server while Martin reminded us to join the first German language Puppet webinar.
Christian, our Account Manager introduced himself, just as Christmas arrived for our team (a little late, but well worth the wait) – with iPad and Nexus tablets for all.
Finally, Eva counted 86 days to the OSDC with Christopher Kunz’ presentation on “CA Failures and the Future of Web Authentication” and Bernd explained how to join both the OSDC and OSMC for free.

Weekly Snap: Font Awesome & Solaris Zone Cluster Monitoring, IRF & CeBIT 2013

weekly snap14 – 18 January offered development, managed services, and systems management tools, on top of CeBIT and OSDC 2013.
From our managed services team, Martin S introduced an Intelligent Resilient Framework for smart virtualisation.
Meanwhile, Marius shared a web dev tip for good-looking and quick HTML icons called Font Awesome, and Thomas his plugin to monitor Solaris Zone clusters.
Finally and somewhat expectedly, Eva announced our participation at CeBIT 2013 and counted 93 days to the OSDC with Constantino Vázquez’s presentation on “OpenNebula Toolkit”.
