25 – 29 April ended the month with two events : Puppet Camp in Amsterdam past and Barcamp in Nuremberg coming up.
To begin, Bernd reported from the first day of Puppet Camp in Amsterdam. He got excited about Faces, the new API which “makes Puppet hackable”- enabling developers to access the base node and descriptions. This alongside other new features in the upcoming v2.7 was covered by Luke Kanies, developer and CEO of Puppet Labs in his opening speech. In a varied program, Bernd noted Jeffrey Lensen’s presentation on Hyves.nl (the largest social network in Holland) and their use of Puppet and Icinga. He also shared our appreciation as longstanding partners with Puppet Labs, in particular to have two Puppet representatives speak at our recent OSDC in April.
Julian too looked forward to another event, Barcamp Nürnberg on 7 – 8 May in Südwestpark. The un-conference will have its program decided by attendees during the event, beginning with a warm-up party on the night before, and a round of introductions on the Saturday morning. There, the participants offer session suggestions, for speeches, workshops or discussion groups. Once someone expresses interest, the session is scheduled into the day’s program. The topics that emerge tend to address the internet ranging from social to technical aspects. As a major sponsor, NETWAYS will be there with a few from the team, so we hope to see you there!
