Build the Home of Open Source Testing, Without the Datacenter
Travis CI started out as a bunch of cheap servers, with a custom-built and managed “cloud” solution, running a couple hundred builds every day. Over the last five years it’s evolved into a system running thousands of builds at the same time, hundreds of thousands every day. In this talk we’ll go through the evolution of the virtualisation and cloud stack that’s supporting one of the largest hosted continuous integration platform out there, talk about our learnings and failings, scaling challenges, and what role the datacenter played and still plays in them.
Mathias Meyer is the CEO at Travis CI, where he focuses on the intersection of distributed systems, teams, company culture, and resilience engineering.
