9 – 13 May offered many an opportunity to discuss and learn in a : from Nagios training and the OSMC to the Linux Magazine Academy and Linux Tag, all topped off with a Icinga 1.4 birthday release.
Manuela called out to interested speakers for the Open Source Monitoring Conference (OSMC) 2011. In its 6th year running, the event on 29 – 30 November covers every aspect of monitoring in the open source world, with a special focus on Nagios. The ‚Call for Papers‚ is now open till 30 July, and all are welcome to offer their presentation or workshop ideas. In addition, 3 intensive workshops are already planned for the conference eve on “Nagios SLA Reporting with Jasper Reports”, “Configurations Management for Nagios & Icinga with Puppet” and “Kick-start Icinga”. These optional courses come at a special “conference + workshop” package rate of €1,439 and are limited to 10 attendees per class. So register quick to secure a place and benefit from the early bird special till 15 August 2011.
With specials in mind, she also recommended Linux Magazine Acadamy’s online training courses on LPIC, Nagios, OpenOffice and WordPress to name a few. All registrations made by 15 May receive a discount of up to 75%, for example a good beginner’s course on Nagios is now just €299 from its usual price of €379.
On the topic of training, Rebecca reminded us that NETWAYS’ own beginner Nagios course on 7-10 June in Nuremberg is running out of places fast. Four, all inclusive packages at €2,290 are still available.
She went on to wish the 2 year old Icinga a happy birthday, and congratulated them on their release of version 1.4. In this release, the open source monitoring project offered a new look Classic UI alongside many bug fixes.
Finally, Manuela tipped off Linux Tag that was held in Berlin last week, where Bernd Erk from our team made 2 speeches: “Open Source Reporting in Systems Management” and “Enterprise Monitoring with Icinga” at the event where .com meets .org.
