Weekly Snap: Nagastamon, Hardware Plugins & Free CeBIT Tickets

von | Jan 10, 2011 | WeeklySnap

3 – 7 January started the New Year free and open, with 2 new plugins from NETWAYS, a Nagstamon patch and free passes to the upcoming CeBIT in Hannover.
Thomas shared news of his recent work on Nagstamon 0.9.5 (RCI) the “Nagios status monitor for your desktop”. Developed by Henri Wahl in Python and available for most operating systems, the current release candidate works well with Icinga too. During a customer project, Thomas had the chance to extend Nagstamon’s support for passive checks and thereby pave the way for other feature requests: Nagstamon acts like a HTTP client and can now also interpret icons from respective services. The patch is planned to be incorporated into v 0.9.5 that should be out in within the first quarter of 2011. Those who can’t wait can test the SVN releases for themselves instead.
Hardware man Martin forwarded news on Multitech’s new firmware 1.44 for its latest iSMS . Accordingly we have also made adjustments to our plugin which is available at www.netways.org. While you are there, check out Thomas’ new plugin for Christ Elektronik power strip, CLM5-IP. It monitors the current electricity consumption of outlets specified, as well as connected digital/analogue temperature sensors with freely configurable thresholds. The plugin also provides performance data for the charting of trends.
Last but not least, Manuela gave us the heads up that CeBIT is on again and free tickets are to be had. 1-5 March in Hannover, NETWAYS will be there once again in the Open Source Park – Hall 2, Block D44, Stand 121. Free tickets are on offer to our customers, simply email events@netways.de. We hope to see you there!
