Nagios Eventbroker (NEB) Modules are an easy way to extend Nagios in a broader way than just with plugins. They allow direct access to Nagios internal structures and direct communication with the Nagios core. There are already some NEB modules available and the speech introduces them One example is Nagios Data Out (NDO) which basically adds database support to Nagios. It is the foundation of many Nagios AddOns, which fetch Nagios data via NDO.
Another popular NEB Module is DNX which allows to distribute checks to more active check servers. It is very easy to configure and offeres an easy way to scale Nagios.
In the last part of his speech, Andreas explains how easy it is to write your own NEB modules and demonstrates it with a small example Module.
