General Information

The OSMC | Open Source Monitoring Conference 2009 on Nagios (formerly Nagios Conference) offers you the opportunity to improve your knowledge of one of the world’s most popular, free open source monitoring systems- Nagios.


 
After the success and the positive feedback from the previous three conferences, NETWAYS is proud to present the Conference on Nagios in 2009. Again, this year’s conference will be in both English and German to ensure all international participants get the most from this event.

 
The 2009 Conference features practical workshops, presentations and networking opportunities to meet and  exchange ideas with other users of Nagios.

 

Whether you already work with the open source software or are considering it, we invite you to join the Nagios community and learn from the creators and experts, aspects of Nagios that can change your business.

Speakers

Every year we look forward to top-class speakers. Excerpt of this year´s speakers list:



Kristian Köhntopp

Kristian Köhntopp is responsible for all architecture- and scaling issues at booking.com. In his former life he has been working with MySQL AB, web.de and has built large mail systems at NetUSE AG.



Wolfgang Barth

As author of the first Nagios handbook, Wolfgang Barth’s expertise covers VMS, Digital UNIX (Tru64), SunOS/Solaris, IBM AIX and HP-UX systems. For him Linux is the logical next-step in the development of UNIX.



Michael Luebben

Michael Luebben ist working with Open Source Monitoring and Nagios for more than seven years now at his employer, the BTC AG in Oldenburg. In his leisure time, he runs the German Nagios-Portal and is one of the developers of NagVis and NagTrap.



Ton Voon

Ton Voon is the project lead for the Nagios Plugin Development Team. He works for Opsera on the Opsview product, a monitoring solution based on Nagios. Although Ton is a core developer on the Nagios project, he will be concentrating on Nagios Plugin and Opsview at OSMC. Ton also has 2 children who like play Tanks on Wii Play.






Official Nagios Plugin Team Meeting

This year's Open Source Monitoring Conference on Nagios will host the official   Nagios Plugin Team meeting. Since 2007 the team has been working on the maintance of existing and the development of new plugins for the well known Open Source Monitoring Tool Nagios. Currently headed by Ton Voon, Matthias Eble, Holger Weiss and Thomas Guyot-Sionnest, the Nagios Plugin Team releases  nagiosplug-Distribution on a regular basis.

 

At OSMC 2009 the group will meet and discuss recent trends in Nagios Plugins and update on the current Nagios Plugin Project status. Beside team meetings, group members will be available to take suggestions from conference attendees or casually discuss ideas.
